In partnership with the Fort Smith International Film Festival, the Fort Smith Museum of History will premiere the 1-hour documentary film, “The Lost Mountaineers”, a production from the nonprofit L’Associazione Culturale Benàch in Nago-Torbole, Italy. “The Lost Mountaineers” delves into the historical events of 1945 at the close of WWII at Lake Garda, Italy and honours the men of the 10th Mountain Division. “The Lost Mountaineers” is an official selection of the Fort Smith International Film Festival. Its premier at the FSMH is part of a U.S. Tour of the WWII documentary and an International Sister-City event between the Sister-Cities of Fort Smith, AR and Nago-Torbole, Italy. The cities began a Sister-City relationship in April 2023. Italian filmmakers, members of the L’Associazione Culturale Benàch, and representatives of Nago-Torbole, Italy, Ben Appleby and Antonella Previdi will open the premier with a short talk about the documentary, its production, and the history behind the story of April 30, 1945. Appleby & Previdi will be available for a Q&A after the film.
Limited seating available.
